Our
Promise
We enjoy each other at SMBC. Long after a worship service
has concluded, the foyer and parking lot may still be
full of people sharing, laughing, planning, or praying
together. Spontaneous fellowship over a cup of coffee
or lunch often follows. As members of the church, our
promise to each other is fourfold:
Unity:
Our purpose as a church body unifies us as we seek
to reach people with the message of God's love and
seek to nurture them in the truth of God's Word. We
pray that we may be a church family where love abounds,
where conversation is encouraging, and where our leaders
are respected and supported as together we follow
Christ.
Responsibility:
We pray for our church and for its growth, both numerically
and spiritually. We welcome with open arms those who
desire to worship with us, for we each remember the
day when we were welcomed into the church family.
Service:
Realizing that God has given each of us gifts and
talents to be used for His glory, we seek to help
our members find their particular places of service
which are suited to their individual passions and
giftedness. As we serve together, we enable one another
in our growth as Christians.
Support:
We eagerly gather for worship and service because
we love God and love one another. We willingly and
freely give of our time, talents and possessions to
support our church body here and its missionaries
serving at home and abroad. We are committed to being
all that God has created us to be.
