Nursery Ministries

On Sunday mornings, age-appropriate nurseries are available for infants through age 3. During this time, we have Sunday School classes for children ages 2 through 5, and a Children’s Church experience for 4 and 5 year-olds.
Security
Parents must sign their children in at the door of their nursery, indicating any special instructions and where you will be during your child’s stay. Upon sign-in, you will receive a numbered tag that will correspond to a numbered sticker placed on your child’s back. If you are needed during the worship service, your child’s tag number will display on a small black box on the left side of the stage. You must present your security tag to pick up your child.
Hygiene Standards
Our workers keep their hands clean and disinfected. Gloves are used and discarded and changing tables are sanitized with each diaper change. Toys and other equipment used by children during any session are disinfected after the session is over.
Sick Children
SMBC has a “well baby” policy in our nursery. For this reason, we ask that a child who appears to be sick not be left in the classroom. They will be more comfortable at home, and this will prevent other children from becoming sick. If a child is found to be ill, you will be notified immediately. Please keep your child at home if they have any of the following illnesses or sicknesses:
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Measles
- Mumps
- Sore Throat
- Runny Nose
(other than clear)
- Questionable rashes
- Other Contagious Illnesses
Children should also be free of fever for 24 hours. Because of liability, we cannot give medication to any child.
General Reminders
- Please label all of your child’s belongings (bags, bottles, pacifiers, etc.)
- We serve Cheerios, crackers (Ritz or Graham) and diluted white grape juice to toddlers and older babies. If this presents a problem for your child, inform us. We have a supply of clean, sanitized sipper cups.
- Please do not bring in outside food or drinks other than bottles.
- Out of respect for our volunteers, please pick up your child promptly after your activity.
- Please do not promote your child from one nursery area to another without approval of the Nursery Director.
- If you feel it is necessary to check on your child during your stay, please come to the Nursery Office and someone will check for you. This will prevent your child from becoming upset.
- Please do not bring any toys with your child other than a blanket or a specific toy to which he or she is especially attached.
